June 19-21, 2015, the 35th annual bowfishing tournament takes place in St. Lawrence County. The address of the tournament is held this year at 268 Fregoe Rd., Massena, NY. This year’s winner was Jared House with his 38.4 pound carp. Last year’s winner was Jason Coughlin of Brasher Fals, NY with a 36.45lb carp. There are several categories to compete in, including women’s, youth, parent-youth, and smallest carp.
There are 150 competitors, this year from the United States and Canada. The tournament takes place in Massena, NY, across the bridge from Cornwall, Ontario. The event this year was held at the Amvets Riverfront Campground near Massena, NY. Each year, the championship donates the tournament proceeds to groups that encourage youth in the outdoors, with a focus on archery programs. Groups that benefit from the tournament include 4H, Camp TaKumTa (a Vermont-based camp for children suffering from cancer) and both the Long Sault and Norfolk Junior Archers.
